Fronted by the enigmatic femme fatale Isis Queen, Los Angeles based DIY Street Rock band Barb Wire Dolls formed at The Ikarus, a remote artist commune on the island of Crete, and with Greece in a state of political turmoil and bankruptcy, fate and destiny intervened when Rodney Bingenheimer of L.A.’s KROQ – the first DJ to spin records in the U.S. by the Ramones, Blondie, Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana – discovered the band and started playing the bands’ demo in heavy rotation. Bingenheimer invited the band to perform in Hollywood and within a few weeks Barb Wire Dolls sold everything they owned and moved to Venice Beach in Los Angeles. Guitarist and Greek surfing/skateboarding icon Pyn Doll put his professional surfing career on hold and something magical happened. “Grecian imports Barb Wire Dolls have taken The Sunset Strip by storm” writes the Roxy Theatre as their first show at the famed venue sold out. “Barb Wire Dolls are the most important punk invasion to the U.S. since the Sex Pistols” writes PMP as the band cemented their place at the top of the newly emerging L.A. punk scene by selling out and packing monthly residencies from the Viper Room, On The Rox, to the Doll Hut before heading out to conquer the rest of America. Barb Wire Dolls have already attracted members of the Sex Pistols, Motorhead, Black Flag, Guns ‘N’ Roses, L7, Dead Kennedys, Aerosmith, Turbonegro, UK Subs, Flogging Molly, Sonic Youth, The Cult, Fear, Casualties, Television, Butthole Surfers, Velvet Revolver, Die Toten Hosen, TSOL, Nashville Pussy, Samhain, Duane Peters and The Hunns and countless others to their performances as the word about the band keeps growing.
